The Clover Boy

Since my son was an infant (he’s 9 now) we have had the good fortune of having the best family of babysitters on the entire planet.  Family of babysitters?  Yes, we started with the oldest sister and have had all 5 siblings take care of our son.  I think most of the time the boys come to play Xbox360 or the Doughcade, but my son has a blast with all of them.  They are all good friends and I had the fortune to do some family photos for them last year.  During the session I asked Zach if I could see his new ear ring.  He threw this little pose for me and I quickly snapped it.  I didn’t think much of it at the time, but when I was processing the photos in Lightroom this one really drew me in.  I’m not sure if it is the blue of his eyes contrasted with the freckles and the composition, but I will just chalk this one up to a happy accident.

John & Bella

This photo tells a lot about John’s relationship with Bella.  John, Bella and I were out fly fishing (well, only John and I can hold the fly rods) and while taking a short break I was shooting some miscellaneous landscape shots when I saw Bella crawl up to John.  She then gave him a big lick and as you can see, John was very accepting.

I love this photo because in one second you know that these two are very close….they are best friends.

It has been a VERY emotional last couple of days.  Yesterday we finalized our decision to adopt a beautiful baby girl from Korea.  This whole process has been 3 1/2 years so I’m sure you can imagine how thankful we are that this day is finally here.

Her Korean name is So Yeon Kim and she is 6 months old.  She is being cared for by a foster family just outside of Seoul, Korea.  The next steps are for all the paperwork in Korea and on the US side to be processed which unfortunately can take up to 6 months.  Thanks to everyone for their support and good thoughts.
