My Photo Gear Is More Expensive Than Yours!

canon70-200.jpgEvery year or so (twice this year), I evaluate my highly used gadgets and decide whether I need to sell and upgrade so that my useless material items don’t lose all of their value. This month I have been going nuts. I have always wanted Canon L lenses for my wonderful Canon 40D digital SLR camera. These L-class lenses are in a whole new class than my previous glass (hip photographer’s term for lenses). This month I decided to bite the bullet and put 3 of my lenses on eBay, do some freelance web development and a couple of paying photo gigs to afford a couple of these precious photographic commodities. I’m happy to announce that the transformation to equipment-spoiled photographer is complete.

So this is what I recently acquired to bring my photo clarity to a new level:

I filled the backpack with all that gear and my 17″ MacBook Pro. I almost fell backwards it was so heavy. Actually, lifting the pack was a struggle, but once it was on, it wasn’t so bad.

The only thing I am nervous about is the 24-70. It has a history of not being calibrated correctly from the factory. A friend of mine sent hers back and it was definitely suffering some back-focusing issues.

I will be putting these lenses through their paces in the next couple of weeks and will report back with my findings.

So Wrong…But So Right

You need to take this test. Here are my results…
